Siliguri, 29th March: Sensation prevailed after a fierce fire engulfed the abandoned quarters of the Public Works Department adjacent to Mahatma Gandhi More under Ward No. 10 of Siliguri.
Reportedly, on Wednesday morning, locals spotted flames coming out from the quarter. After this, the police of Siliguri police station and fire department were informed about the same. As soon as the news was received, two fire engines reached the spot. The fire was brought under control after an hour’s effort.
The fire engulfed several wooden items that were kept in the quarter. It is to be noted that the quarters of the Public Works Department have been deserted for a long time and several illegal works and elements were been detected.
