Few buses available, no thermal screening conducted at Siliguri’s bus stands

Siliguri, 03rd June: Bus services resumed operations in North Bengal in the first phase of Unlock 1.0. However, very few government as well as private buses were available to tend the large number of travellers.
Crowd of passengers from Raiganj, Cooch Behar and other places were spotted waiting at the Tenzing Norgay bus stand since morning.

Keeping in mind the need to maintain social distance in order to avoid contracting the fatal coronavirus, many people were sighted staying away from crowded bus and waiting for the next bus to arrive.

On the other hand, no social distance was maintained outside the ticket counter and the passengers alleged that no thermal screening was being conducted. They expressed outrage over the fact that the NBSTC authorities did not respond to the matter despite being notified.

However, according to various bus unions, bus services will take a few more days to return to normalcy.
