Emergency meeting held in NBMCH concerning rise in COVID-19 cases

Siliguri, 19th April: In view of the growing number of positive coronavirus cases in North Bengal, the health officials held an emergency meeting at North Bengal Medical College Hospital, on Monday.


The meeting was attended by Darjeeling District Chief Health Officer and North Bengal OSD (COVID-19) Dr Sushant Roy as well as the officials of NBMCH. Detailed discussions were held regarding ways to deal with the pandemic in the Darjeeling district.

After the meeting, Dr Sushant Roy held a press conference, where he said that a COVID block was formed at North Bengal Medical College a few days ago, which contained 110 beds. More 90 beds will be added. He further said that there is a safe house in Hatighisa and another safe house will be opened at Siliguri Indoor Stadium.


It is to be noted that the safe house situated in Indoor Stadium was closed following a decrease in the number of coronavirus patients. Keeping in mind the present situation, the reopening of the safe house was discussed today.

On the other hand, Dr Sushant Roy further said that as the number of cases is increasing, everyone should be more aware and careful. Physical distance should be maintained and masks should be used.
