Madarihat, 20th December: An elderly man died during a wild elephant attack . The incident surfaced this morning from the Purba Khayerbari area under the Madarihat block.
Reportedly, on Monday late at night, a wild elephant from the Jaldapara forest entered the Khayerbari area east of Madarihat and created havoc in the said locality. At the same time, Bablu Mirdha, a resident of the area, had left the house late at night for defecation when the elephant attacked him. Due to this Bablu died on the spot.
On the other hand, as soon as the news of the incident was received, forest personnel and Madarihat police station cops reached the spot and recovered the body and sent it for postmortem. Police have started investigating the entire incident.
