Siliguri, 8th January: Impact of the All-India Strike called by various central trade unions and federations could be sighted in Siliguri. Starting from this morning, various shops in Siliguri’s Hill Cart Road, Bidhan Road were closed. Besides, buses, autos, and Totos (e-rickshaws) were significantly less than in other days. However, NBSTC buses were on the run. Police force has been deployed at various places, including Venus More, Sevoke More, Airview More and Tenzing Norgay bus stand.
Meanwhile, several trade unions held rallies in various places of Siliguri in support of the strike. The CPI(M) leaders and activists participated in the rally. The Siliguri Police Commissionerate has been vigilant since morning to avoid any untoward incident.
