Bagdogra, 26th June: An e-rickshaw overturned and its driver was seriously injured after it collided with a passenger Magic van from behind on Asian Highway 2 in the Buri Balasan area of Bagdogra.
According to reports, the Magic van was heading from Bagdogra towards Siliguri when it suddenly braked to drop off a passenger. At that moment, an e-rickshaw following behind lost control and rammed into the van. The impact caused the e-rickshaw to overturn on the road.
Eyewitnesses said the e-rickshaw was moving at high speed at the time of the accident. The injured driver, identified as Ajay Roy of Buri Balasan, was rescued by locals and rushed to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) for treatment.
Bagdogra Traffic Guard personnel arrived at the scene, and Bagdogra Police have started an investigation into the incident. Magic van driver Tanmoy Sarkar stated that the e-rickshaw hit the vehicle forcefully while it was stationary.
