Drug trafficking in an ambulance busted, two including the driver arrested in Siliguri

Siliguri, 18th March: SOG and undercover police of Bhakti Nagar police station arrested an ambulance driver who used to smuggle drugs along with his accomplice. The arrested ambulance driver has been identified as Jagdish Barman and his accomplice as Amit Sarkar, a resident of Haiderpara and Mathabhanga respectively.

Reportedly, Jagdish used to bring drugs from outside in the guise of driving an ambulance and sell them in Siliguri with the help of his associate Amit Sarkar. Even Jagdish himself used to deliver drugs by ambulance. According to the information received, Jagdish was about to deliver an intoxicating injection to his associate Amit Sarkar in front of Haiderpara Market Complex last night. On receiving a tip-off, the SOG, in a joint operation with Bhakti Nagar Police Station, arrested both of them from Haiderpara Market Complex with drug injections. Both have been presented in the Jalpaiguri court today after registering a case under the NDPS Act.

SOG had been searching for ambulance driver Jagdish for quite some time because a month back, Bihar’s Madhepura police seized 180 kg of cannabis from an ambulance with a West Bengal number plate. Investigation reveals that the ambulance had reached Bihar from Siliguri. When the SOG received the news, they started the investigation. After this, SOG got successful in arresting the driver involved in drug smuggling under the guise of an ambulance.
