DRI nabs man from Dibrugarh-Delhi Rajdhani Express with gold worth over Rs 43 lakhs

Siliguri, 22nd December: DRI arrested a smuggler from Dibrugarh-Delhi Rajdhani Express on Tuesday night on charges of smuggling gold. The arrested accused has been identified as Khundongbam Ranbir Meitei of Manipur.


It has been learned that the smuggler was hiding four gold biscuits weighing 870 grams in his rectum. The estimated value of the gold is said to be Rs 43,06,210. He was produced at Siliguri ACGM court today.

DRI lawyer Ratan Banik said that DRI officials raided the Dibrugarh-Delhi Rajdhani Express last night based on a tip-off and arrested the man. The accused was granted bail today.
