DRI arrest two youths in Siliguri with 24 kgs of gold worth over Rs 11 crore

Siliguri, 20th February: Based on a tip-off, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), on Friday, arrested two youths from a bus in Siliguri Burdwan road along with 24 kgs of gold. The arrested accused have been identified as Akshay Sirkande and Rushikesh Gaurav, residents of Maharashtra.


As per the report, the duo was travelling to Siliguri by bus from Cooch Behar. 150 gold biscuits were seized from their possession. The market value of the gold has been estimated to be around 11 crore 56 lakh 85 thousand rupees. The gold was being smuggled from Myanmar to Delhi via Manipur.

The arrested individuals were produced before the Siliguri court on Saturday.
