DM holds meeting with private nursing homes of district, sub-division

Siliguri, 27th April: With the upsurge in COVID-19 cases in the Darjeeling district, the District Magistrate held a crucial meeting with representatives of private (non-government) hospitals/nursing homes in the presence of the health department and administrative officials at the State Guest House.


After the meeting, the Chief Medical Officer of Health of District, Pralay Acharya said that as per the government’s guidelines, all the nursing homes in the district and sub-division have been instructed to keep about 25 to 30 percent of the bed reserved for treating COVID patients. The said was discussed during the meeting and other protocols the private nursing homes are required to follow.

District Chief Health Officer added that they are planning to make COVID-19 testing available in some hospitals and diagnostic centres. For this, he said that at first, an examination of a testing kit will be conducted and if everything goes well, the hospitals and diagnostic centres will be allowed for conducting the COVID-19 test.


Pralay Acharaya informed that the Indoor Stadium of Siliguri is being rebuilt. Safe houses running in Hathighisa of Naxalbari, Batashi, and Libu Tari are also being monitored.
