Dispute ensued between BJP and TMC in Siliguri’s Ward No. 24 over ward office

Siliguri, 23rd March: Tension ensued in Siliguri’s Ward No. 24 over a dispute between BJP and TMC. Reportedly, Ward Councillor Pratul Chakraborty talked to set up a ward office at Congress’ office in Siliguri’s Ward No. 24 Fuleswari.

It is alleged that when SMC Chairman and Ward Councilor Patul Chakraborty reached the office this morning, BJP leaders also arrived. Allegedly, Chakraborty was heckled and pushed at the time and soon a dispute broke out. Meanwhile, the Siliguri police reached the spot as soon as the news was received. Deputy Mayor Ranjan Sarkar and Mayor Goutam Deb also reached later. Following this, in the presence of the Mayor, everyone entered the said office.

Speaking in this regard, Pratul Chakraborty said that the Ward office was supposed to be set up at Congress’ office. He alleged that a few outsiders instigated commotion over the matter without any reason.

Meanwhile, Mayor Goutam Deb said that the Congress had agreed to let their office be used as the Ward’s office for four years. Without naming any names, the Mayor stated that this morning one of the leaders arrived at the spot and troubled the SMC Chairman. Mayor further added that the Chairman will complain about the whole matter at the police station.

On the other hand, Bikash Sarkar accused the Trinamool Congress of occupying the office under the guise of Ward’s office. He added that he was taken a back when he came to know about the same. To enquire about the situation, Sarkar apparently reached the office this morning and asked Pratul Chakraborty to leave. He denied all allegations.
