Devotees offer prayers at Jalpesh Temple during holy month of Shravan

Jalpaiguri, 07th August: Devotees gathered in large numbers at the Jalpesh Temple to commemorate the sacred month of Shravan. People hailing from neighboring areas such as Jalpaiguri, Siliguri, and Cooch Behar have also made their way to the Jalpesh Temple since Sunday night. Just like in previous years, the ‘Shravani Mela’ is being conducted at the Jalpesh Temple, situated by the banks of the Jarda River, approximately 8 km from Maynaguri.

However, akin to the previous year, this year too, devotees are participating in the ‘Jal-Abhishek’ ritual from outside the temple premises. The water poured during this ritual flows directly onto the Shivling. To facilitate a clear view of this, a LCD screen has been installed. A devotee from Assam expressed their sentiments, sharing that a number of people from Assam have gathered at the Jalpesh Temple on this morning. They expressed immense joy in being able to offer their worship in this sacred place.

Similarly, Tanmoy Modak, another devotee, mentioned his annual pilgrimage to the Jalpesh Temple, where he performs the ‘Jal-Abhishek’ ceremony on the Shivling. While acknowledging the good arrangements made by the temple authorities, he voiced his preference for a more direct ritual within the inner sanctum, similar to the previous year.
