Demonstration and memorandum issued at Rajganj police station demanding punishment for the criminals of Rajganj rape case

Rajganj, 13th September: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) staged a sit-in protest at the Rajganj police station demanding the arrest and severe punishment of all the criminals involved in the abduction and rape case of two minor girls in Rajganj’s Sannyasikata Nabagram area.


 


 

 

 

 

 

 

On Sunday, BJP Mahila and Yuva Morcha activists and supporters staged a protest rally in this regard. However, the Police intervened the demonstration by putting up barricades as soon as the rally reached the police station. The matter escalated to a conflict between the BJP workers and the policemen.

The BJP activists alleged that 4 minors were raped in three separate incidents in the Sannyasikata area within a month. Besides, 2-3 girls are also missing. They accused the police of failing to nab the criminals.

Due to such negligence, they gheraoed the police station and also submitted a memorandum demanding severe punishment for the accused. They further warned of staging larger demonstrations if the criminals are not punished soon.

Mahila Morcha Jalpaiguri district president Tina Gangopadhyay, Yuva Morcha District President Palen Ghosh and several leaders and activists of the district and Rajganj block were present during the programme.
