Mirik, 02nd February: Mirik is known for its high-quality orange production in the Darjeeling hills. These are grown in various areas including Mirik Basti, Murmah and Soureni Basti. However, this year’s production was quite disappointing for the farmers.
Deepa Subba, a farmer from Duptin in Mirik, said that the production of the orange drastically came down this year as compared to the previous years. Apparently, they are not as tasty as expected. Due to the unsatisfactory production, the oranges are only being sold in the town’s local market this year.
