DD arrests second accused involved in Siliguri ‘Hit and Run’ case

Siliguri, 15th February: In a recent development, the Detective Department (DD) has arrested the second accused in connection with the hit-and-run case on Siliguri’s Sevoke Road. The arrested accused has been identified as Santosh Prasad, a resident of Gandhi Nagar.


It is to be noted that on February 1 night, a speeding car lost control and first hit two vehicles and further rammed into two individuals standing on the roadside in Siliguri’s Sevoke Road. Consequently, Mukesh Mittal had succumbed to his injuries.

After the incident, the family members of the deceased Mukesh Mittal protested at the Bhakti Nagar Police Station demanding the arrest of the occupants of the car. Two days after the incident, police arrested the car driver Deepu Giri, however, the other occupants of the car were still at large.


Subsequently, the investigation of the incident was handed over to DD. Within a few days after taking charge of the investigation, the DD team arrested the second accused from his residence on Wednesday night.

Meanwhile, DD is engaged in further investigation to apprehend the other accused. On Thursday, the accused has been produced before the Jalpaiguri court.
