Mirik, 05th June: Darjeeling MLA Neeraj Zimba, during his visit to the eastern Chenga village in the Terai region, met an 11-year-old differently-abled child Ashana Rai. Born in a poor family, she lost her father at an early age and is suffering from cerebral palsy since birth. As she is unable to walk, the MLA gifted her a wheelchair.
But it does not end there, the MLA himself pushed young Ashana's new wheelchair and took her to the nearby toll booth to meet her friends. "Ashana is a good student and her mother told me that she is very interested in studying. I promised to bear the entire cost of Ashana's education," Zimba said. The MLA hoped the wheelchair will help a bright student like Ashana go to school.
"I want to see a smile on the face of every person in crisis and I will help everyone according to my ability," he added. The GNLF representative of the Terai Chenga branch thanked MLA Zimba for extending his support to Ashana Rai.
