Damage control? After deducting E-challans worth over Rs 1 crore, Siliguri Traffic Police hand out roses to motorists

Siliguri, 11th June: The rigidity of traffic department of Siliguri Metropolitan Police against traffic rules violators is clearly vivid as per the recent report released by the West Bengal Police. For the month of April and May, the Siliguri Traffic Police ranked number one in the race to cut e-challans. While the department charged fines amounting to about Rs 49 lakh in the month of April, over Rs 1 crore was fined in May.

Despite the harsh campaign, several motorists are seen breaking traffic rules. On Saturday, the traffic police of the city were seen opting for a different approach to make the people aware of the safety measures. Police handed over roses to the people and appealed to them to follow traffic rules.
