Cycle thieves gang busted in Siliguri, two arrested with 11 stolen bicycles

Siliguri, 31st July: The Siliguri police achieved a significant breakthrough by apprehending a gang of cycle thieves. Police arrested two suspects and recovered a total of 11 stolen cycles. The accused have been identified as Ravi Sarkar, a resident of Dashrath Palli, and Kunal Singh alias Kacha, hailing from Kalaram Jote in Phansidewa.


The gang was involved in stealing bicycles from various parts of the city, irrespective of their value, whether cheap or expensive. They would strike opportunistically whenever they encountered a chance to break the lock and take away the bicycles.

A recent incident of a stolen bicycle belonging to an Air Force personnel in Uttar Bharat Nagar area prompted a complaint lodged at the Siliguri police station. The subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the two accused based on the complaint. The police have managed to recover a total of 11 stolen cycles from them, with an estimated worth of lakhs of rupees. Today, the accused were produced before the Siliguri court to face legal proceedings for their actions.
