Siliguri, 19th February: The city police on Friday arrested three people for running an illegal online lottery behind a lottery shop adjacent to Fuleswari Indoor Stadium located at Ward No. 29 of Siliguri.
After the news was published in the media, a team of Siliguri police station launched a campaign in the shop and arrested three people. The accused have been identified as Santosh Kumar Gupta, Siddharth Chakraborty and Bhola Mandal. Two laptops, a printer and some cash have been recovered from the shop. The accused were produced in the court today.
Meanwhile, the ward’s winning candidate and CPI(M) leader Sharadindu Chakraborty also raised his voice regarding the incident. “Such illegal business of online lottery is running in the entire state under the guise of lottery shops. This is cannot be accepted at any cost,” he added.
