CPI(M) candidate joins Trinamool after defeating Party’s candidate in Panchayat polls

Rajganj, 30th July: In a significant turn of events after the Panchayat Elections, the winning Communist Party of India Marxist (CPIM) candidate Sabeza Begum joined the Trinamool Congress (TMC). Today, Sabeza of Danga Para Booth No. 107 under Majhiali Gram Panchayat went to the Rajganj’s MLA (Member of Legislative Assembly) and District Chairman Khageshwar Roy’s residence and extended her support to the party.


During the meeting, Trinamool Block President Arindam Banerjee, Youth President Tushar Kanti Dutta, Jalpaiguri Zilla Parishad’s outgoing President Uttara Barman, and other leaders of the party were present.

According to reports, TMC won 11 out of 19 seats in the aforementioned Gram Panchayat in Rajganj in the recent Panchayat elections held this year. While the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has won 6 and CPIM and Independent have won one seat each.


Sabeza Begum, the CPIM candidate won after defeating the TMC candidate in the panchayat election. Following her win, she joined the TMC party. Speaking in this regard, Sabeza stated that she joined the TMC along with her supporters for the prevalence of peace and development in the area.
