CPI (M) protests alleging failure of Siliguri Municipal Corporation, submits collected signatures and memorandum

Siliguri, 28th March: The District Left Front joined agitation on Tuesday, alleging the failure of the Siliguri Municipal Corporation. The Left leaders also handed over a memorandum to the officials of the board regarding their 12-point demands.

Reportedly, the Left Front alleges that the present board has completely failed to deliver public services. Due to this, people are facing many problems. For this reason, the District Left Front started a month-long signature campaign. During this, signatures of about 56,000 people were collected. District Left Front organized a sit-in demonstration in the area adjacent to Baghajatin Park in Siliguri on Tuesday to hand over the memorandum to the corporation officials for the collected signatures.

During this, CPI (M) leaders Ashok Bhattacharya, Jibesh Sarkar, Saman Pathak, Tapas Goswami, and others were present in the protest. On the other hand, a large number of police forces were deployed to prevent any unrest regarding the program of CPI(M). On the other hand, after the protest, the CPI(M) leaders took out a rally and marched toward the SMC. However, the police stopped the agitators before they could reach the office. After this, a delegation went to the corporation and handed over the memorandum.

On this occasion, Ashok Bhattacharya alleged that Siliguri Municipal Corporation came to power by promising to work for the double-engine government. He further alleged that all the promises have turned out to be fake as the double engines are not even able to provide the service of a single engine.
