COVID-19 impact: Basundhara Basanta Utsav not open to general public this year

Siliguri, 25th March: In view of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Basundhara Basanta Utsav is not open to the general public this year also.

The Basundhara Utsav was cancelled in 2020 due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus. However, this time, several rules have been laid down to curb the spread of the virus.

Speaking at a press conference at Siliguri Journalists Club, Sujit Raha said that Basundhara will not be open to the general public this time. The Basanta Utsav will be celebrated on March 28 through some cultural events. The use of masks and sanitisers will be mandatory according to the COVID-19 safety measures. He further said that flower petals will be used instead of Abir.
