Bagdogra, 21st July: The Congress commemorated Martyr’s Day on 21st July at Bihar More in Bagdogra, organized by the Naxalbari Block Congress. Dignitaries present at the event included former MLA from Matigara Naxalbari and Darjeeling District Congress President, Shankar Malakar, and Naxalbari Block Congress President, Amitabh Sarkar, among others. They paid their respects at the martyr’s altar during the solemn occasion.
Shankar Malakar highlighted that in 1993, the unfortunate loss of 13 Congress workers occurred, making this day a significant date of remembrance. Martyr’s Day is observed annually across the entire state, as well as in the district, to honor and pay homage to the brave martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the cause of the Congress party.
