Bagdogra, 31st March: Amitava Sarkar, the Congress candidate for the Matigara-Naxalbari Assembly constituency, has initiated his election campaign through wall writing.
On Tuesday, Sarkar personally took part in a wall-writing drive at Gadadhar Pally in Bagdogra. He later visited multiple areas in the constituency to continue outreach efforts.
Speaking during the campaign, Sarkar said that the Matigara-Naxalbari constituency has traditionally been a stronghold for the Congress, with the party securing victories in the 2011 and 2016 Assembly elections. He expressed confidence that the party would reclaim the seat once again.
However, he also criticized the former MLA of the constituency, alleging that the leader betrayed the Congress by defecting to Trinamool Congress for personal gain.
Sarkar stated that his primary goal is to defeat the former MLA and restore the constituency’s political legacy.
