Congress and CPI(M) to form alliance in the upcoming Panchayat elections in Rajganj

Rajganj, 10th April: Through a press conference on Monday, Congress Rajganj Block President Debabrata Nag and CPI (M) Area Committee member Majeed Ul Haq announced that the two parties will form an alliance in Rajganj for the upcoming Panchayat election to oust TMC, the current ruling party in the state, and BJP in the centre. CPM’s Rajganj Area Committee Secretary Ratan Roy, Congress Rajganj Block Vice President Musharraf Hussain, INTUC Block President Jitesh Roy and others were also present in the meeting.


The Congress and CPI (M) will jointly contest unitedly in Panchayat, Panchayat Samiti and Zilla Parishad in eight constituencies of Rajganj Assembly. Candidates for about 169 Gram Panchayats, 24 Panchayat Samitis and 2 Zilla Parishads will be selected to contest in these eight areas. 

Addressing the media, CPI (M) leader Majeed Ul Haq stated that the two parties have decided to contest together and are optimistic that they will win with good results. He further added that they have held discussions with other secular parties and have asked them to join the alliance and fight against the TMC and BJP. Committees are being formed in every gram panchayat, Haq further maintained.
