Jalpaiguri, 10th July: A delegation from the Chief Minister visited the Jalpesh Temple in Jalpaiguri on Friday to inspect the preparations in view of the upcoming Shravani Mela.
The Shravani Mela, one of North Bengal’s traditional fairs, is scheduled to begin on 19th July at the Jalpesh Temple. Every year, thousands of devotees collect water from various ghats of the Teesta River and offer it to Baba Jalpeshwar at the temple.
The state government has already started preparations to ensure smooth conduct of the fair. The Chief Minister’s delegation, along with district administration officials, police officials, MLAs and public representatives, inspected the temple premises and different areas of the fair.
According to administration sources, necessary arrangements will be made to ensure that devotees do not face any inconvenience during the mela.
