Child Trafficking Racket Busted in Siliguri: Detainees presented in court

Siliguri, 17th May: In a significant development, two women have been apprehended for their involvement in the attempted kidnapping and trafficking of three minors. The Siliguri police produced both suspects in court on Wednesday. The arrested individuals have been identified as Yasmin Malik (43) and Tishuang Chandol (40), hailing from Leh in Jammu and Kashmir.


The incident unfolded on Tuesday when the two women hailed a toto and requested to be taken to a local hotel near Bidhan Market in Siliguri. However, their intentions were soon discovered when the three minors accompanying them began crying, raising suspicion among the onlookers and the toto driver. Acting promptly, the driver handed over the women and the minors to the Airview More traffic police. The Siliguri police subsequently arrived at the scene and took custody of all involved parties.

Following an extensive interrogation, the police arrested both women in connection with the attempted kidnapping. Simultaneously, efforts were made to contact the relatives of the three minors, ensuring their well-being. A case has been registered against the accused under various sections, and the matter was presented before the Siliguri court on Wednesday. The police have requested a five-day remand from the judge to facilitate a thorough investigation.
