Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee likely to visit North Bengal, will meet the Malbazar-river-accident victims

Siliguri, 15th October: Chief Minister will likely come to North Bengal on a three-day visit from October 17. Administrative preparations have begun for her North Bengal visit. 


According to administration sources, the CM will arrive at Bagdogra Airport on October 17 and will reach Malbazar directly. She will meet the families of the deceased and other victims who fell prey to the ill-fated incident on Dashami. It is to be noted, eight people died due to flash floods that washed away the worshippers during the immersion of the Durga idol. In regard to the incident Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced compensation to the families of the deceased. After the conclusion of Durga Puja and carnivals, she will meet the families and listen to their woes. 

According to district administration sources, in Siliguri, she will attend the Vijaya Sammilani program which is likely to be organized at Kawakhali ground. The officials of the police and district administration, including Darjeeling District Magistrate S Ponnambalam and Siliguri Police Commissioner Akhilesh Chaturvedi, took stock of the venue. Apart from this, police and administration officials have also held a meeting at Biswa Bangla Shilpi Haat in Kawakhali.
