Chief Minister inaugurated Uttar Banga Utsav, Banerjee condemned CAA and NRC in her speech

Siliguri, 20th January: State Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who is on a four-day visit to North Bengal, inaugurated the Uttar Banga Utsav in Siliguri today.


Several leaders including Tourism Goutam Deb, Minister Aroop Biswas, Trinamool leader Ranjan Sarkar, Binay Tamang were present at the event organized at Atharokhai Maidan in Shiv Mandir. The Chief Minister also awarded Banga Ratna Puraskar to 9 eminent personalities from North Bengal today. The Chief Minister provided financial assistance to the meritorious students of North Bengal during the programme. Along with this, the Chief Minister inaugurated the new building of Siliguri Journalists Club, Uttariya from the event’s platform.

During her speech, the Chief Minister condemned the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019 (CAA) and National Register of Citizens (NRC). It is to be noted, on January 22, the Chief Minister will take part in a rally against the NRC and CAA in Darjeeling.
