Siliguri, 30th October: As per the Green Tribunal directives, Chhath Ghats cannot be constructed in the middle of the river which is why the Siliguri Municipal Corporation demolished the ghat that was built in the middle of the Mahananda River.
Today, the said Chhath Ghat was shifted to another place with the help of the police after it was alleged of violating the rules of the Green Tribunal. A large police force led by OC Partha Sarathi Das of NJP Police Station reached the spot and moved the Chhath Ghat elsewhere. The local panchayat government cooperated with this.
