Chengmari tea plantation closed due to labor movement

Nagarakata, 10 March: Due to the growing tension between the laborers and managers in the Chengmari tea estate, the tea garden has been shut down. The incident has created a stir in the political atmosphere before the much-anticipated assembly elections.

According to sources, a gate meeting was held on Tuesday under the leadership of Trinamool Nagarakata Block President Manoj Munda protesting against the dismissal of 45 employees from the post of Sardar.

After the workers’ organizations threatened to launch larger demonstrations, the owner left the tea garden on late Tuesday night. The workers found the gate to be locked when they came for work, this morning.
