Phansidewa, 28th February: Police from Bidhannagar Investigation Center in Phansidewa have thwarted an attempt to smuggle cows and buffaloes disguised under onion sacks.
A total of 42 cattle were rescued, and two individuals were arrested in connection with the case. The two arrested individuals have been identified as Amar Ali and Tayyab Ali.
According to reports, the police intercepted a lorry loaded with onions at Muraliganj Check Post in Phansidewa. Upon inspection, they discovered 21 buffaloes and 21 cows hidden beneath the sacks.
As the accused failed to produce valid documents for the transported cattle, the police seized the lorry. The arrested persons were presented before the Siliguri Sub-Divisional Court on Friday.
Meanwhile, an investigation into the matter has been initiated by the Bidhannagar Investigation Center police.
