‘Khutti Puja’ marks beginning of Durga Puja preparations by Jatiya Shakti Sangha O Pathagar in Siliguri

Siliguri, 17th June: Jatiya Shakti Sangha O Pathagar, one of Siliguri’s prominent Durga Puja committees, officially began preparations for this year’s Durga Puja with the traditional ‘Khutti Puja’ ceremony on Wednesday.

The ritual was conducted at the Sri Guru Vidyamandir Ground in Champasari, where members of the committee performed the ceremony in accordance with traditional customs.

Committee members said that preparations are underway for a new and special theme for this year’s Puja. However, details of the theme have been kept under wraps and will be revealed closer to the festival.

Vice-President Abhijit Karmakar said that, as in previous years, the committee aims to present a unique theme for visitors. He added that the Khuti Puja marks the formal commencement of work to ensure the project is completed on time.

Secretary Sangram Dey Das stated that the Puja attracts large numbers of visitors not only from Siliguri but also from other places every year. Keeping that in mind, the committee is working on an attractive new concept expected to draw significant attention.

Assistant Secretary Manna Bhadro said that Jatiya Shakti Sangha’s Durga Puja is well known across Bengal and has received recognition on several occasions for its innovative themes. He expressed confidence that this year’s presentation will also attract visitors and offer a memorable experience for people across North Bengal.

The committee described this year’s theme as a major surprise that will be unveiled in grand fashion during the Durga Puja festivities.
