Siliguri, 17th June: A sensational burglary incident has been reported from Shelcon Regency apartment in Gandhinagar area of Siliguri, where five flats were allegedly targeted in a single night, triggering panic among residents.
According to reports, three miscreants allegedly entered the apartment premises by scaling the rear wall during heavy rainfall on Tuesday night. They then targeted five locked flats across two blocks and committed theft after breaking open the locks.
It is being reported that the owners of the affected flats were away at the time of the incident, and the exact amount of stolen valuables is yet to be ascertained. Locals suspect that the accused had conducted a recce of the vacant flats before executing the burglary.
Upon receiving information, Bhakti Nagar Police reached the spot and initiated an investigation. CCTV footage from the surrounding area is being examined to identify and trace the culprits.
Ward Councillor Sukh Deo Mahato also visited the site and interacted with residents, terming the incident serious. He urged the police to arrest the accused at the earliest and also called for increased night patrols in the area. Police investigation is underway.
