Kalchini, 01st September: A gate meeting was organized on behalf of Bharatiya Tea Workers Union (BTWU) at Satali Tea Garden in Kalchini Block on Wednesday morning to discuss various issues of the tea garden workers. Several demands were presented including the festival bonus of 20 percent for tea garden workers, construction of permanent housing for workers and payment of gratuity.
In this regard, BJP Mandal president Pradeep Kujur said that the retired workers of Satali tea garden have not been receiving gratuity for the last three years. Many workers have not yet been provided with permanent housing. Their meeting will continue till their demands are met.
