Brown sugar recovered from spectacle case in Siliguri, one arrested

Siliguri, 28th July: In a significant breakthrough, the Special Operations Group (SOG) and Matigara Police Station successfully intercepted a drug smuggling attempt. A considerable amount of brown sugar, concealed within a spectacle case, was seized before it could be smuggled. The operation led to the arrest of an individual identified as Manoj Chhetri, hailing from Rangpo.


According to police sources, Biswas Colony, situated near Matigara Bypass, has emerged as a notorious hub for drug distribution across the city. In response to this concerning situation, the SOG and Matigara Police Station have been maintaining continuous surveillance in the area. Acting on a tip-off received on Thursday night, the joint police team swiftly carried out the operation, leading to the apprehension of Manoj.

During the search, the police discovered 51 grams of brown sugar skillfully concealed inside a spectacle case in his possession. Consequently, he was arrested under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Today, the accused has been presented before the Siliguri Court as the police continue their investigations into the matter.
