Blood-soaked body of elderly woman found lying inside her house in Siliguri’s Ward No. 16

Siliguri, 22nd March: A startling incident came to the fore from Hakimpara under Ward No. 16 where a dead body of an elderly woman was found lying on the ground in a pool of blood. The body had been lying for two days.


Reportedly, the deceased identified as Anita Brahma (74), had lost her husband two years ago and lived alone in the house. One of her sons, Satyabrat Brahma, lives in Darjeeling for work. After not seeing her for about two days, Anita’s neighbours called Satyabrat and conveyed their concerns. Apparently, even after getting the news, Satyabrat reached home after a day to check on his mother. When he entered the house, the elderly woman’s blood-soaked body was found lying on the ground between two beds. 

On the other hand, as soon as the news of the incident was received, the police of Siliguri police station reached the spot and after a preliminary investigation, Anita was declared dead. Later, police recovered the body and sent it to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital for postmortem. The police are probing the entire incident. 


On the other hand, Sujay Ghatak, councillor of Ward No. 16, said that he reached the spot after getting the news from the local people. After this, they informed the police. He further added that the elderly woman lived alone while her son lives out of town.
