Blood donation camp held in Siliguri on Frank Orell Day

Siliguri, 03rd February: Frank Orell Day is being celebrated at Siliguri Kanchenjunga Stadium today. In this regard, a blood donation camp was organized where many people donated their blood.


As per the report, the people who donated their blood were awarded a certificate signed by international cricket player Rohit Sharma. Before the commencement of the camp, homage was paid to Frank Orell’s portrait.

Indian skipper Nari Contractor sustained a head injury during the Barbados Test against West Indies in 1962. At the time, West Indian captain Frank Orell donated blood to save him. Since then the Cricket Association of Bengal has observed this day as Frank Orell Day. Around 75 units of blood were sent to the Siliguri District Hospital.
