Black marketing of masks, sanitizers reported in Siliguri

Siliguri, 21st April: With the growing number of coronavirus cases, lockdown has been imposed in various states. Doctors have emphasized the use of masks as the situation is worsening. As a result, the demand for masks and hand sanitizers has increased.

With this, massive black marketing has started with masks and sanitizers. The common people are facing trouble and have demanded the intervention of the government and administration. While, a few days ago, the price of surgical masks in the wholesale market was 1 rupee, it has increased to 3 rupees now. The price is even higher in the retail market.

Sanitizers are also being sold for 200-300 rupees which was earlier priced at 100 rupees. It has been alleged that traders are stocking masks in some shops and raising prices by creating artificial shortages.

However, some traders in Hawkers Corner and Mahabirsthan, said that the masks are falling short due to lockdown imposed in Delhi. They claimed that they too buy masks at higher prices and then sell.
