Jalpaiguri, 30th July: BJP women workers staged a protest outside Jalpaiguri Kotwali Police Station on Thursday and allegedly hurled eggs at the vehicle of Jalpaiguri Zilla Parishad Karmadhyaksha Pranayeeta Das, daughter of Trinamool Congress leader Krishna Das.
According to reports, the protesters blocked the vehicle after Pranayeeta Das arrived at the police station. As she entered the premises, some protesters allegedly pulled her by the hair, leading to tension inside the police station compound.
The protesters raised slogans over various allegations. As the situation turned tense, police intervened and escorted Pranayeeta Das into the police station under security before bringing the situation under control.
Police sources said Pranayeeta Das had appeared at Jalpaiguri Kotwali Police Station on Thursday in compliance with a court directive. Further investigation into the incident is underway.
