Siliguri, 01st November: Today the BJP leaders protested in front of the Siliguri Municipal Corporation gate alleging mismanagement and lack of measures taken by the body to contain the spread of dengue in the city. Dengue has been wreaking havoc in the city and also claimed the lives of many residents across Siliguri.
With the current situation, the opposition BJP party has alleged SMC’s failure in containing the spread and not taking any steps to prevent the illness. Today BJP leaders and workers staged a sit-in protest in front of the SMC gate. During this, Siliguri MLA Shankar Ghosh, District President Anandmoy Barman and other leaders were present. They also demanded the resignation of the mayor.
In this context, BJP MLA Shankar Ghosh said that the way dengue is surging in Siliguri, the people of the city are in panic. He alleged that the SMC is failing in every way to prevent the spread of the virus and not being able to initiate any work measures. District President and MLA Anandmoy Barman also expressed anguish over the role of the SMC.
