BJP announces its three candidates for Darjeeling Hills, GNLF President Mann Ghising opposes the decision

Darjeeling, 23rd March: Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP), on Tuesday, announced its candidates from the Darjeeling Hills who will be fielding in the upcoming West Bengal assembly elections 2021. As per the list, Neeraj Tamang Zimba will be contesting for Darjeeling constituency, Subha Pradhan from Kalimpong, and Bishnu Prasad Sharma (BP Bajgain) from Kurseong.


Speaking to our correspondent through a telephonic conversation, Darjeeling’s candidate Neeraj Zimba and Kurseong’s candidate BP Bajgain expressed happiness and gratitude towards the party for selecting them as their candidates. However, we were unable to contact Kalimpong’s candidate Subha Pradhan.

Meanwhile, Gorkha National Liberation Front (GNLF) President Mann Ghising has opposed the decision of BJP. He expressed dissatisfaction over the selection of the candidates.


In a press release, Ghising wrote, “Keeping our mutual understanding with BJP intact, we oppose the selection of the candidates fixed by BJP for the three constituencies Darjeeling, Kalimpong, and Kurseong for upcoming assembly elections. A meeting of the Central Committee will be held soon to decide on the future strategy of our party.”
