Kalchini, 29th May: In the Santali Basti area of Kalchini block, the forest department controlled a bison with the help of a tranquilizer. However, after firing the tranquilizer gun, the Bison died. This morning, the Hamiltonganj range of the Forest Department sent the body of the bison to Rajabhatkhawa for post-mortem.
Reportedly, the bison had entered the Santali area at around 11:30 pm on Sunday night. Subsequently, after being informed, the Forest Department’s Hamiltonganj and Pana range forest personnel and officials reached the spot. Following this, the bison was brought under control by firing a tranquilizer, but later it died.
According to the forest department, based on primary assumptions, they are of the opinion that the bison died because of running. The carcass of the bison has been brought to the Hamiltonganj range this morning.
