Bidhan Nagar, 23rd March: The Bidhan Nagar police, on Monday night, launched operations at a residence in the Bidhan Nagar bazaar area and arrested a man along with 500 grams of brown sugar. The arrested accused has been identified as Mohammad Azizul Rahman, a resident of Kaliachak in Malda. Rs 10,500 cash and several documents were also seized from his possession.
According to police sources, Mohammad Azizul Rahman rented a house in Bidhan Nagar in January, where he used to conduct the illegal trade of drugs. The market value of the recovered brown sugar is estimated to be lakhs of rupees.
The arrested accused was sent to Siliguri sub-divisional court on Tuesday. Police have started an investigation into the whole incident.
