Bhakti Nagar police station launches campaign against illegal quarrying, six vehicles seized, two arrested 

Siliguri, 02nd April: The undercover police of Bhakti Nagar police station seized six vehicles in a campaign against illegal quarrying. During this, two drivers have also been arrested. It is to be noted that the rivers are losing their existence due to illegal quarrying, creating a menace. Also, the state government is facing a lot of loss in royalty. 


 

A few days ago, three young teenagers lost their lives in the Balasan river due to illegal quarrying. Since then, the administration has started keeping a strict vigil to stop illegal quarrying from the rivers and also taking strict legal action against people doing illegal quarrying. 


 

Given this, once again the case of illegal mining in the Mahananda river of Ward No. 42 came before the police of Bhakti Nagar police station. Based on the same, the police launched an operation in the early hours of Sunday morning. During this, the police seized six vehicles including four trucks and two tractors. The two truck drivers were also arrested on the spot. The police of Bhakti Nagar police station produced both the arrested drivers in the Jalpaiguri court today.
