Belakoba ration dealer accused of charging extra money for oil, locals stage protest

Rajganj, 16th May: The residents of Rajganj Belakoba area, on Saturday, staged a protest outside the ration shop accusing ration dealer Sudip Chanda of charging more amount for oil amid the ongoing lockdown.


The customers alleged that the aforementioned dealer has been carrying out such illegal acts for the past several days. They claimed that 1 liter of oil costs 15.37 rupees as per the government guidelines, however, Chanda charged 28 rupees from the people. A demonstration was staged outside the Belakoba ration shop in this regard.

Upon receiving the news, the Belakoba Outpost police and Rajganj MLA Khageshwar Roy reached the spot shortly after and brought the situation under control.


Roy clarified that the ration dealer has mistakenly charged more amount and further assured that strict actions will be taken against him if such incidents get repeated in the future.
