Belakoba range personnel intercepted wood worth Rs 30 lakhs being smuggled under the guise of glass bottles in Rajganj

Rajganj, 21st October: Forest personnel of Belakoba range launched a campaign and intercepted wood that was being smuggled under the guise of glass bottles. Two people have been arrested from the scene with Burma wood worth lakhs of rupees. The two accused have been identified as Upendra Kumar Jaiswal and Santosh Singh, residents of Uttar Pradesh and Kolkata respectively.


This morning, a team of forest workers led by Belakoba Ranger Sanjay Dutta, carried out an operation in the Panikauri area of ​​Rajganj on the Siliguri-Jalpaiguri National Highway and seized Burma woods worth about Rs 30 lakh. The driver and assistant driver of the vehicle were arrested after the said incident.

As per the forest department sources, the said wood was being smuggled from Guwahati to Kolkata. Both the accused will be produced in Jalpaiguri district court tomorrow.
