Bear rescued from a residential area of Alipurduar

Alipurduar, 03rd December: Forest workers have rescued a bear from the Haldibari area in Kumargram under Alipurduar district. Reportedly, a few days ago, the residents of Nepali Basti near the Bhutan border spotted a bear lurking in the area. However, by the time the forest personnel reached the spot, they could not find the wild animal.

Then again on Friday night, the residents of Central Haldibari spotted the bear in the village and informed the Forest Department. After this, the forest workers reached the spot at night and waited for the daylight to catch it. The following morning, when the bear took shelter in the bushes at the house of a local resident, the forest personnel surrounded the entire area with a net and captured the animal by tranquillizing it.

Shortly after the news of the bear spread, a crowd of people gathered in the area. The capture of the bear brought a sigh of relief to the residents. According to the forest department, the rescued bear will only be released back to the forest after reviewing its health.
