Baikunthpur Forest workers arrested a poacher with firearms in Kholachand Phapri 

Siliguri, 18th November: Acting on a tip-off forests workers of Dabgram range of Baikunthpur Forest Department arrested a poacher, identified as Anjan Mishra, for possessing firearms stored for hunting wild animals. 


It is to be noted that, a few days ago a person identified as Krishna Chhetri was arrested by the forest officials for hunting and dauntlessly selling raw meat of wild animals in the market. Firearms, bow and arrows, peacock and tortoise skins were recovered from his possession. During interrogation, Krishna mentioned Anjan Mishra and others as his accomplices. Acting promptly, the personnel conducted raids in three different areas last Thursday night and arrested Anjan Mishra from the Kholachand Phapri area.

However, the other two accused are still at large. On the other hand, the forest officials have recovered two firearms and a parrot of Alexandrine parakeet species from Anjan Mishra’s possession. The Forest Department officials stated that they will initiate further actions on the basis of the evidence received. Today the accused has been produced in the Jalpaiguri court.
