Bagdogra Airport’s advisory council meeting concluded, representatives of state government did not attend

Siliguri, 05th January: MP Raju Bista today held a meeting regarding the Advisory Council at Bagdogra Airport. But, no representative from the state government attended the said meeting for which the MP expressed displeasure.


MP Raju Bista said that the airport belongs to all but the DM and the Police Commissioner was absent during the meeting of the Airport Advisory Council. He further added that had the representative of the state attended the meeting, it would have led to fruitful and better discussions.

It is to be noted, that there has been talk and discussions of renovating the Bagdogra airport for a long time. However, the matter was halted regarding the land issue but has timely resolved. In order to renovate the airport in a new form 98 acres of land has been received from the state and 6 acres from the Air Force. The central government has also allocated Rs 25 crore to the state government. The airport will be built grandly on a total of 104 acres of land of which the design work for has started. Airport construction work will also commence soon.


MP Raju Bista, further said that there is a lot of issues during the aircraft landing and take-off in the cold weather. For that, on Friday, the Airport Management (ILS) will check the Instrument Landing System, if everything goes well, the aircraft will be able to land and take off under this process from Saturday.
